Lydney made an eye-catching start in London, scoring five tries in a 32-15 win.

Winger Josh Hannam raced in for three tries, with Tai Lacabuka and Paul Scott also touching down. Craig Jones kicked two conversions and a penalty.

New forwards coach Don Parsons said: "We've got to be pretty happy with that, although there's still plenty to work on, particularly at the breakdown and with our defensive line-outs.

"Barnes tried to play a very attacking game but made a lot of mistakes."
