A LYDNEY man who sent ‘grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing’ electronic messages has been placed on a one year community order that includes 80 hours of unpaid work for the community.

At Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court, Harvey Rowles, 19, of Severn Road, admitted making the phone calls and sending messages and voicenotes between May 16 and 19 last year.

As part of the community order he must take part in up to 30 days of rehabilitation activities as directed by his supervising officer.

The magistrates imposed a two year restraining order barring him from contacting a named young person aged under 18 or going to a specified address. He was ordered to pay £230 costs and surcharge.
