Woodmancote v Lydney

A DEVASTATING 11 over spell of 6-19 from Woodmancote's Paul Turner earned the home side a seven-run win over Lydney.

Needing 175 for victory, Lydney lost wickets throughout their innings, mostly to Turner.

He removed the top five in the order, then came back to trap Paul Morris lbw for a duck and finish the match off.

James Legge kept Lydney in the game with 68 runs from 92 balls. Will Jones (23) and Peter Glynn (21) were the only other players to make meaningful scores as the visitors failed to bat their full 45 overs.

Earlier in the day, Peter Glynn bowled Lydney into a strong position with a spell of 4-28 from 11.2 overs, backed up by James Legge (2-26).

The fact that Woodmancote reached a total of 174 owed much to their tail, who revived the innings when it was buckling at 128-9.

Number Eight Sudashan John struck 47 not out.

Despite this defeat, Lydney overtook Painswick – who lost at Bredon – to go top of the league.
