THE Davies family is mourning the death of their second child to die in a road accident in five years.

Louise Davies, from Cinderford, was critically injured when her car slid sideways into a double-decker bus which was coming up Littledean Hill.

The former Lakers School pupil had been driving from Cinderford to Littledean with her one-year-old son Callum on Saturday at around 11.40am.

The 21-year-old died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

Callum suffered cuts and bruises in the crash was released from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital the following day and is now in the care of his grandparents.

This is the second tragedy her family have had to en dure following the death of her brother Gareth, 23, who was knocked down by a car in Redmarley while working as a bin man in 2006.

Paying tribute to Louise at the family's home in Lydbrook, her parents Mike and Jenny said she was a fun-loving girl.

"I can't get my head around it happening again, it's like history repeating itself," said Jenny, 56.

"Louise grew up very quickly after Gareth died. All her mates took care of her then and couldn't do enough for her. They are doing the same for us now."

Jenny called Louise a best friend as well as a daughter. She said Louise doted on her son.

"She insisted on giving him the best she could of everything – like buying him a damn good car seat," she said.

"The doctors said it was that car seat that saved him. I keep talking about her to him.

"We'll never forget her."

Her dad Mike, 64, said: "She loved a good night out and had lots of friends. We've had a houseful of her friends around here since Saturday.

"We'd have gone round the twist without them."

Louise wanted to become a nurse and had started work as a healthcare assistant in the rehabilitation ward at Gloucester- shire Royal Hospital just three weeks ago.

A Facebook page set up in her memory attracted more than 1,000 members, with more than 600 people joining in one day.

Her friend Karen Trigg, who lives in Cinderford, said Louise was the most caring person she'd ever met.

"She was so happy – she had everything," said Karen. "A little boy, a loving partner and the best family."

Police are appealing for witnesses, especially a cyclist who was in the area when Louise's silver Vauxhall Astra was in collision with the 31 Stagecoach bus, to come forward.

A passenger on the bus suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
