VISITORS to Beechenhurst could be forgiven for thinking that a brand new exhibit has landed on the Sculpture Trail.

But The Forester has learned that a giant circular structure which has been quietly trying to blend into the background since appearing last week is not another artwork.

It is actually from outer space. Or to be more precise, outer space TV style.

The round fort is believed to be part of a secret set being built in the Forest for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special.

The heavily guarded fort and surrounding area will be covered in fake snow for a series of dramatic festive scenes.

Last week it was confirmed that Matt Smith is filming a Christmas special for 2011 but no details have been given out.

Since then cast and crew have been spotted in Cardiff and Stradey Castle in Llanelli.

Now it seems they are due to head over the border to the Forest.

Everybody involved has been sworn to secrecy but earlier this year it was reported that Russell T Davies had written a part in the episode especially for former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
