AT the age of 106 Lilly Strugnell looks poised to become Britain's oldest silver surfer.
But the Forest super pensioner, who had her first computer lesson this week, is not interested in Facebook.
Lilly is keen to buy her own lap top but when you get to the age of 106, social networking is not the main attraction of the world wide web.
"I think I'd mostly like to do it for the films," she said.
"I love opera and I'd love to see One Good Day from Madame Butterfly again.
"Maybe I am too old to learn but you never know what you can do until you try."
Lilly also wants to revisit historic events she remembers from her past, such as seeing the doomed r101 airship flying overhead to London during the First World War.
She lives in Hanover Court, Cinderford, with daughter Joy Williams who said: "She will not give up until she has mastered it."
But although she is keen to learn Lilly is not convinced the internet will take over from her favourite hobby.
"I like knitting blankets for earthquakes abroad because then I know I am doing something about it," she said.
The oldest person ever from the UK was Charlotte Hughes, who died in 1993 aged 115 years 228 days.
