THE lights went out on Cinderford Town's season with floodlight failure at The Causeway on Tuesday night.

The Foresters must now replay the match and reimburse the officials and the visiting team, Bideford, with their expenses – a bill that is likely to run into hundreds of pounds.

Bideford made a midweek round trip of 274 miles from Devon.

They must now come back on Thursday April 14.

It took around an hour to play 35 minutes of football with the lights going out three times.

Town were leading 2-1 when the match was finally called off for good.

It was 1-1 after 18 minutes when the lights on the far side of the ground stared playing up.

The clubs were told the match was off but after a 25 minute delay they were back on after a pylon had been disabled by an electrician.

Fifteen minutes later, the problems started up all over again.

Town boss Paul Weeks said: "It's very disappointing. Some of the players complained they were getting a shock off the showers. It could be a general electrical problem that forced the floodlights to short out."

Town scored two great goals to get themselves in front through Lewis Sommers and Andy Lewis.

Andy Lewis ran from deep inside his own half to slot past the Bideford keeper.

"It sums up our season, it was stop, start," added Weeks.

Cinderford Town do not have a game this Saturday, but go to North Leigh on Tuesday night (April 12).
