A CINDERFORD man who attacked his ex-partner’s boyfriend in front of the his young children has narrowly avoided jail.

Jamie Allen, 26, of Cedar Dean, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to assaulting Aaron Hutchinson at Dexter Way, Gloucester on August 5, 2018.

Allen also admitted possessing a zombie-type knife on the same occasion, a picture of which police have made public.

Judge Ian Lawrie QC said: “The knife you had looks formidable and wandering around with such knives normally attracts a custodial sentence.

“I accept that you did not wield the knife and you say that it is for your work as an engineer and you forgot that you still had it in your back pocket.

“But if this happens again you will almost certainly go straight to prison.

“And don’t have your disputes in front of children.

“It must have been a terrifying experience for them.”
