THERE was no way back for Lydney after conceding four tries inside 21 minutes.
Steve O'Brien was driven over for a fourth minute try following a line-out, which Michael Le Bourgeois converted.
Straight from the restart, Doherty broke away for a fine solo effort.
Shell-shocked Lydney were still catching their breath when O'Brien was driven over for his second try of the day.
It got even worse, when Lydney lost a scrum against the head and Doherty breezed in, providing Le Bourgeois with a simple conversion.
Lydney were awarded a penalty-try just before the break when Jersey pulled down a maul close to their line. Tony Wicks converted.
As the game wore on, Lydney drew Jersey into a forwards battle, where they proved more than a match for the visitors.
Losing Jim McMahon to the sin-bin in the 43rd minute didn't help their cause, but they rallied to gain the upper hand up front.
No points were scored in the second-half by either side as Lydney drew the sting from their opponents.
Nick Stoneman and Paul Scott stood out in a decent pack performance, with Will Jones and replacement Nick Selway also contributing plenty.
Lydney's backs were generally shackled, but bulldozing centre Danny Chiu caused a few problems with his direct, straight running.
