THE vulnerable and elderly are being left isolated by the ongoing cuts to local transport. The changes to the bus routes in and around the Forest of Dean District are also making it almost impossible for people to use public transport to commute to nearby towns for work. Anthea Stait, a resident in Lydbrook, said: "I used to drive but it's something I can't afford to do anymore. We've gone from having three or four buses a day to only one a day. All of this has started affecting my sleep. We don't know what's going to happen next in Lydbrook. It causes me a lot of distress. At the moment it looks like the 35 service from Ross-on-Wye to Coleford will be kept. Isolation truly is the silent killer and it's affecting the elderly more and more."
