ALAN and Michelle Powell of the Fountain Inn, Parkend, were ‘coining it’ this week when they discovered two antique coppers during refurbishment work.

The 19th century penny and 18th century halfpenny came to light when a ceiling was being replaced.

Alan and Michelle, who have been running the popular village pub fr 29 years, say they have made several interesting finds over the years from clay pipes to a large pot of oyster shells.
