Cinderford Town 3

Mangotsfield United 0

CINDERFORD produced a strong second half showing to run out deserved winners at The Causeway.

Both sides had chances in the first half.

Nick McCootie missed the target from a good position, and Dean Lee also threatened on a couple of occasions.

Mangotsfield posed a threat too, with Bater hitting the bar and Knighton having a shot blocked by the legs of Ben John.

The Mangotsfield line-up contained former Town players Sean Seavill, fit again after a badly broken leg, and Tom Billing.

Another ex-Town man now with Mangotsfield, Sam O'Sullivan, missed the game because of injury.

The match turned on an incident three minutes before the break when Mangotsfield's Mitchell Page was sent off for a late challenge on Warren Archer.

Town showed their intent straight from the second half kick-off.

McCootie slipped his marker but couldn't force the ball in, with Dale Evans missing the rebound.

It was Dean Lee (pictured) who finally broke the deadlock on 52 minutes, side-footing home a Nick McCootie cross.

Cinderford's second goal was a cracker.

Mike Whittington, on as a substitute for McCootie, beat Mangotsfield keeper Greaves with an exquisite chip.

On 71 minutes, Town's former Mangotsfield defender Danny Haines found Lewis Sommers, who brought the ball down smartly and fired into the top right corner from 25 yards.

Sommers almost scored again from a similar distance, but Mangotsfield kept throwing bodies forward and John had to be alert to deny Colborne with a fine tip-over save.
