National Two South
Hartpury College 62
Lydney 10
ONE win in seven is a worrying statistic as Lydney prepare to take on title contenders Richmond at home this week.
Of more concern is Lydney's defensive frailties, which has seen them concede 20 tries in their last two games alone.
Against Hartpury College it was men against boys – with the boys in complete control.
Hartpury ran in four first half tries and six more in the second half, through Ian Clark, Koree Britton (3), Brandon Walker (2), Glen Lewis, Dan Robson, Ryan Mills and Jack Hayes, with Mills kicking six conversions.
Lydney managed a try in each half. Dave Emery touched down on 29 minutes after breaking off a line-out drive, with Tony Wicks going over in the second period.
Wicks was yellow carded on 19 minutes for a reckless tackle, but Hartpury lost two men to the bin towards the end of the first period. Jack Hayes was also yellow carded for a dangerous tackle, with hat-trick hero Koree Britton getting 10 minutes on the sidelines for reckless use of the boot.
Lydney hope to have Will Jones and Josh Hannam back this week.
Jones suffered a concussion earlier this month, while Hannam missed the Hartpury game with a foot injury.
Lydney: Tony Wicks, Stewart Doust (Luke Kell 41), Chris Holder, Ross Webb (Josh Innes 50), Tai Lakabuka, Craig Jones, Will Kane, Steve Price, Ben Lewis, Nick Selway, Dave Bennett, Paul Scott (James Bashford 57), Dave Emery (Lance Randell 65), Tim Longton (Nick Stoneman 70), Jim McMahon (capt).
