IT'S been a busy couple of months for the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club.

At the West Country Gymnastics League final, the Forest girls received the third place shield for Division One.

Their promotion to Division One followed successes in Divisions Two and Three in previous seasons.

In the final competition of the year the team of Rachel Stephenson, Lowri Scrivens, Coral Prout, Sophie Taylor and Sophie Akers were intent on a top three finish.

It all came down to precision and landings, but the girls achieved their target – finishing behind two Bristol clubs, The Academy and The Hawks.

Rachel Stephenson performed well throughout the competition, achieving second place on vault with a strong Tsukahara and a stunning floor routine. Rachel, as team captain, collected the trophy on behalf of the club.

Lowri Scrivens was the club's top scorer on asymmetric bars with a smooth, dynamic routine. Sophie Taylor also scored well.

Both Coral Prout and Rachel included successful giant swings for greater difficulty.

All of the girls tumbled well. Sophie, Lowri and Rachel were the top scorers on floor.
