ELLWOOD lost 5-0 at Shortwood United in the quarter-finals of the County Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.
Ellwood more than matched their opponents for 45 minutes. They had plenty of the ball and two great chances to take the lead. Chris Stock had a shot cleared off the line, while Kerry Hale missed a one-on-one with the Shortwood keeper. Shortwood went in front 10 minutes before the break. In the second half they found another gear, scoring three times in 10 minutes.
Ellwood boss Chris Addis said: "Shortwood played a full strength team and in the second half they showed why they play two leagues higher than us. Their fitness and movement off the ball was excellent."
