BROADWELL reflected on another strong season at their annual presentation night at the clubhouse.

Having finished runners-up in Northern Senior League Division One, the first-team squad was congratulated and presented with their medals by manager Mark Allen.

The reserves finished 12th in the North Gloucestershire Premier Division and manager Gary Powell and assistant Craig Tait were thanked for their hard work.

Both are stepping down, with Rob Merry taking over.

Clubman of the year was Les Lewis.

'Mr Broadwell' is the club's secretary who has given many years to the club as a player and committee man.

Les was presented with a mock up game of 'Guess Lew' based on the kids' game 'Guess Who'. He seemed to appreciate it but wasn't sure if it was going to be a big seller this Christmas. However, he was adamant his granddaughter Ava would love it.

Ryan Dean won an award for best contribution to club members, for his work behind the bar.

The most enthusiastic player prize went to Damian 'Jubba' Lipman who put in a tremendous amount of effort, playing in nearly every position, despite a family bereavement during the season.

Young player of the year was Scott Burrows, who showed skill and determination to push his way into the firsts.

Second team player of the year was Chris 'Stogie' Powell, following in his father's footsteps by playing for both the first and seconds at the club.

First team player of the year was goalkeeper Lee Harris, who made some crucial saves and kept the team in games throughout the season.

The award was timely as Lee has decided to hang up the gloves and retire. He was thanked for all his efforts on and off the pitch over many years at Broadwell.

He challenged second team keeper Craig Alexander to a drinking contest and came out an easy winner.
