GLOUCESTERSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) has appointed a new Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) for 2023.
Nathaniel Hooton, who joined GFRS on Monday, January 2, has an “extensive” career portfolio within the fire and rescue service amounting to more than 22 years of experience.
He has previously held senior roles in emergency response and planning, resilience, business continuity, corporate risk management and multi-agency led community safety.
Beginning his career with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, he has spent the last five-and-a-half years with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service as a strategic leader and incident commander.
Speaking of his new role, DCFO Hooton said: “I feel privileged to have been given this opportunity.
“I want to ensure that we can provide high quality, effective and efficient services to the Gloucestershire community with dedication, innovation, and commitment.”
Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member with responsibility for the fire and rescue service, said: “I am delighted that Nathaniel has joined us as Deputy Chief Fire Officer for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
“With over 22 years of experience within the fire and rescue service Nathaniel will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.”
