A CHARITY which supports hundreds of community projects in Gloucestershire has landed a £10,000 funding award.

The Gloucestershire Community Foundation (GCF), which supports voluntary organisations across the county including in the Forest, has received the award from financial services group Benefact through its ‘Movement for Good’ awards.

The funding will go towards the charity’s INVEST Leadership Programme, which links charity leaders with expert mentors to help them work through challenges they are having at work.

Founded in 1989, the GCF has provided funding and support for countless charities in the county including the Forest of Dean Baby Bank, which offers emergency supplies and equipment for families struggling to afford them.

Mark Hews, group chief executive of Benefact Group, said: “At Benefact Group we believe business should be a force for good. More than ever, charitable causes need sustained support and a sense of financial stability.

“Through our Movement for Good larger-grant awards, we are championing a more imaginative way of supporting charities so that they can have some certainty in these challenging times.”
