RESIDENTS of Gloucestershire are among the “least worried in the UK about going bald”, according to a new analysis of Google searches.
Hair Transplant Specialists at UK Hair Transplants looked at how often people in 46 parts of the UK search Google for 20 terms linked to losing their hair. This ranged from "receding hairline" and "male pattern baldness" to treatments such as minoxidil and "hair transplant".
Gloucestershire had 4.3 hair loss searches a month for every 1,000 people, the ninth-lowest of 46 areas. That is 20 per cent below the UK figure of 5.4.
Dr Adam Ali, Hair Transplant Surgeon at UK Hair Transplants said: "The places at the top are big cities with lots of men in their twenties and thirties. That's the age when you first catch your hairline in a photo and start looking things up.
"The places at the bottom are mostly rural counties with older populations. I don't think men there have more hair. I think plenty of them lost it years ago and stopped worrying about it.
"If you're up late searching for this, see your GP or a specialist before you spend any money. A lot of what's sold online won't do anything, and the earlier someone looks at it properly the more can be done."
Elsewhere in the South West, Somerset ranked alongside Gloucestershire, while Cornwall was lowest with only 3.6 searches for every 1,000 people.
London topped the table as the most worried with 7.2 searches per 1,000 people.
