National League One
Cinderford 34
Fylde 36
This was the first ever meeting between Cinderford and Fylde and the recently-promoted northerners are sure to be a handful for plenty of teams this season.
They scored five tries to Cinderford's four in an entertaining match at Cinderford's newly-named Beavis Memorial Ground.
Fylde scored two tries inside 12 minutes but Cinderford fought back with a penalty, try and conversion from Rory Teague.
Fylde's Steve Collins scored his side's third try and the same player booted the conversion and a penalty to give his team a 22-10 advantage.
With the half-time whistle looming, excellent work by the Cinderford forwards turned over the ball inside their own half and moved it to prop Paul Price, who put in an excellent kick off his left foot.
Winger Lloyd Stapleton raced onto the loose ball and went under the posts unopposed. Teague converted.
Cinderford got on top in the second half and brought the game to life when George Evans was driven over for a try.
Teague's conversion put the Foresters in front for the first time at 24-22.
The referee warned both teams about the number of penalties they were conceding, but Paul Price was the unlucky man to make the next offence and go to the sin-bin.
With an extra man, Fylde moved the ball wide to put Royle over for a converted try in the corner.
Teague kicked a penalty to cut the deficit to two points.
With four minutes remaining on the clock, Bingham scored the decisive try for the visitors after charging down a Teague clearance. Collins converted for a nine point lead.
Cinderford never gave up and winger Lloyd Stapleton grabbed his second try of the match in injury-time, converted by Teague, but it only provided a second bonus point, not outright victory.
