Zamaretto Southern League
Cinderford Town 0
Yate Town 0
THIS was two points dropped for Cinderford Town, according to boss Paul Weeks.
After pushing title-chasers AFC Totton all the way in midweek, the hosts were surprisingly lacklustre in The Causeway sun.
Weeks said: "We were well below the standards we've been setting for ourselves and I don't know why.
"The players were buzzing beforehand. To be fair to Yate, they've got a lot of spirit, but we should be beating sides like them at our place. I don't think their back four went over the halfway line. Things just didn't pan out how I expected, even our subs couldn't make an impact."
Such was Cinderford's strength on Saturday, the experienced Tom Billings couldn't get into the 16.
Sam O'Sullivan went closest in the early stages of the game, while Sommers failed to convert a teasing Jeanne cross. Former QPR winger Jeanne also went close from a free-kick.
At the other end, McLennon forced an excellent tip-over save from Ben John.
The second-half was scrappy, with Yate happy to sit back and soak up pressure.
The visitors had a glorious chance to break the deadlock when Meaker played in Nicholls, but he squandered the chance.
Meaker did get the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
This Saturday, Cinderford make the short journey to Cheltenham to play Bishop's Cleeve.
Weeks said: "They'll be looking for revenge because we beat them 4-0 at our place, but that's fine by me."
