LEISURE centres across the Forest of Dean are set for a major upgrade this autumn, with Freedom Leisure announcing a wave of new fitness facilities in Cinderford, Lydney, Newent and Sedbury.

The improvements, taking place throughout October and November, are part of the organisation’s drive to give members “more ways to move” and encourage more people across the district to stay active through the colder months.

At Cinderford Leisure Centre, a full range of new functional kit is being installed, including 20 ICG 6 spin bikes, Les Mills Sprint classes, rowers, a treadmill, climber, benches and a new cable machine.

Lydney Leisure Centre will soon feature a brand-new functional training room, set to open in late October or early November, complete with a boxing area and Les Mills Ceremony classes launching at the end of the month.

In Newent, gym-goers will benefit from a refreshed look, including upgraded functional kit, a new cable machine and a Power Mill climber designed for high-intensity cardio workouts.

Meanwhile, Sedbury is receiving a full set of new dumbbells with a sleek modern stand, ensuring local users can continue to enjoy strength training with up-to-date equipment.

Freedom Leisure, which operates the centres on behalf of Forest of Dean District Council, says the upgrades are part of its commitment to reinvest in local facilities and provide residents with the best possible experience.

To mark the improvements, the operator has launched a series of early bird membership offers, including two months at £19.99 for adults, a free month for concession members, two months free for new annual memberships and three months free for existing members.

A Freedom Leisure spokesperson said the investment would help keep fitness facilities “accessible, welcoming and exciting” for people of all ages across the Forest.
