LYDNEY Town lost 2-0 to Bishop's Cleeve Reserves on Saturday, but manager Mark Lee was relatively happy with his team's performance.
"We kept the ball well and probably dominated possession, we just need to add a final product and get the ball in the net," he said.
"I don't think 2-0 was a true reflection of the game, but Cleeve were a pretty strong team. I'm not too bothered with the scoreline. The main thing is we managed to retain the ball."
Lee has signed Matt Foxwell from Ellwood to boost the Lydney attack. He is likely to play up front this season with Nial Halford, who is currently unavailable.
Last year's strikeforce of Adam Price and Matt Timmins are unlikely to be reunited.
Price wants to play in midfield this season, while Timmins says he no longer wants to commit to first-team football and is set to play for the reserves.
Lee said: "Matt is a good asset for us because he's an out and out goalscorer."
Lydney have lost full-back Dan Gittings and wide player Danny Clarke.
Gittings has joined Bishop's Cleeve and played against his old side on Saturday. Clarke is returning to his local club Kidlington.
Lee said: "I can't blame Danny because he looks over his fence to the Kidlington ground. He showed fantastic commitment to play for us last season."
Ricky Beckett is currently playing in goal for Lydney Town and is mulling over a possible switch from Whitecroft.
Jonny Kear will return to the midfield once the cricket season is over.
This Saturday, Lydney Town make the long journey to Ilfracombe for a friendly.
