Northern Senior League
Division One
Broadwell 4
Gala Wilton 0
BROADWELL manager Mark Allen gave a home debut to Danny Latham, who duly rewarded him with a goal in each half.
This was a good match on a difficult playing surface.
Broadwell found the visiting Gala team determined to chase every ball, closing them down quickly.
Consequently, there were a few rash tackles, which referee Stuart Kyle dealt with confidently.
Controlling the midfield, Ross Scott, Carl Adams and Mike Robbins supplied front runners Foxwell, Latham and Belfitt with plenty of opportunities to test out Gala keeper Wilson.
Danny Latham opened the scoring on 20 minutes, following up a Ross Scott free-kick from the edge of the box and hammering home the loose ball.
Matt Foxwell had one of his best games of the season in attack.
The centre-forward, who gave the Gala centre-backs a torrid time with his physical presence, doubled Broadwell's lead before the break by volleying home an Ian Price cross.
Gala, to their credit, took the game to Broadwell in the second-half. However, Scott Albon and Andy Green both had excellent games in the heart of the home defence.
Danny Latham capped an excellent display with Broadwell's third, a great individual effort.
Latham collected the ball just outside the box, cut inside his marker and hit a low shot past Wilson.
Gala continued to press and Broadwell keeper Lee Harris pulled off three outstanding saves from close range efforts.
Matt Foxwell, making the most of his chance after starting the previous three games on the subs' bench, drove home the fourth goal from a Steve Belfitt cross to the back post.
This week, Broadwell go to Stonehouse Town.
The Foresters top the league by two points and still have two games in hand on second-placed Brockworth Albion.
