Jetlagged but jubilant summed up Pete Bullocks' feelings when he heard that his firm Forest Press Hydraulics had won The Forester Business of the Year Award.

The company boss from Cinderford had just flown in from the Middle East to attend the glittering awards night at Forest Hills Golf Club last Thursday.

From the humble beginnings of a greengrocer's shop Pete and his family have built up a multi-million pound business supplying machinery to make concrete slabs worldwide.

His achievements were recognised by the judging panel of four comprising business entrepreneur Harry Kear, Veronica Godfrey of Abacus Accounting Services, Martin Scrivens of The Warranty Group and Terry Newby, of SPP Pumps.
