A family-run Forest of Dean business is leading the way in sustainability after receiving support from Forest of Dean District Council.
Maix Vending Ltd has installed 78 solar panels on their warehouse roof and, with match funding from the Rural England Prosperity Fund, purchased nine Tesla Powerwall batteries to store renewable energy for use even on cloudy days.
The move is already paying off: the company has generated 9.8 megawatts of solar electricity, with 51% of its energy now coming from renewable sources.
In just six months, Maix Vending has saved £4,100 on electricity bills, which is being reinvested into product innovation.
Council officials said the project demonstrates how local businesses can thrive while supporting a cleaner, greener Forest of Dean.
