TWO young men from the Forest were arrested for drink-driving on Christmas Day.
The pair were among four people from the Dean charged with drink-driving as part of the police force's festive crackdown last week.
In all, 22 people were arrested across Gloucestershire between December 22-29 and police are warning drivers not to be tempted to get behind the wheel after a drink during the New Year weekend.
Thomas Vickery, 22, of Wood Edge Road, Lower Milkwall, was arrested in Coleford on Christmas Day and will appear before magistrates in Gloucester on January 30.
Scott Burford, 26, of High Street, Cinderford, was arrested in Yorkley on Christmas Day and will appear before Gloucester magistrates on January 31.
Ashley Green, 28, of Garlands Road, Alvington, was arrested in Lydney on Christmas Eve and will appear before Cheltenham magistrates on January 19.
Philip Baker, 24, of Victoria Road, Coleford, was arrested on December 27 and will face Gloucester magistrates on January 31.
The running total for the four-week campaign so far is 65.
Of 22 arrested in the past week, 17 have been charged and are facing court appearances in the New Year.
Inspector Jason Keates, of the Constabulary's Road Policing Unit, said 22 arrests is a very high figure.
"It's hugely disappointing people aren't heeding the warning and considering the consequences of being caught," he said.
"These people are now facing the possibility of losing their driving licences and all the other consequences that may follow, such as job losses, relationship breakdowns and a criminal record."
He warned that police will be running roadside tests during the New Year celebrations this weekend and added: "The only safe and sensible way to ensure you stay safe is to avoid drinking any alcohol if you are going to drive. "
