A VAN driver from the Forest has been killed in a head on smash with a lorry in the Cotswolds.

The 49-year-old Longhope man died in the crash at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Police say that at about 12:05pm on there was a head on smash on the A40 at Windrush.

It involved a heavy goods vehicle travelling towards Cheltenham, and a blue Peugeot van driving towards Burford.

The van driver from Longhope was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

The lorry driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
