HOLIDAY company Forest Holidays has raised £640 for Monmouth’s Overmonnow primary specialist resource base (SRB).

On Thursday, May 8, Katalin Debulay- Gavand and ranger Gerry O’ Brien visited Overmonnow primary SRB to celebrate the funds they raised at Forest Holidays for them.

The team at Forest Holidays has raised hundreds of pounds in the past years for different charities. This time, the chosen charity was ‘Meeting the Needs’ at Overmonnow primary SRB. The money raised by Forest Holidays will be used to fund new outdoor resources for pupils.

Katalin Debulay-Gavand, spokesperson for Forest Holidays, said: “My son goes to school, so this fundraising was really special to me.”

“I am very proud of my work place and the team who supported this initiative, Gerry and the other team members who run the quiz have done a fantastic job. Special thanks to the guests too, who were particularly generous.”

‘Meeting the Needs’ is a registered charity and was formed in 1999 to support the learning and educational experience of pupils in Overmonnow Specialist Resource Base. Pupils in the SRB have complex additional learning needs.

Katalin Debulay-Gavand’s son attends the school, making it a very special fundraiser for her.

Gerry O’Brien, Katalin Debulay-Gavand and the team at Forest Holidays want to encourage other local businesses to fundraise for schools in their neighbourhood, or wildlife in the Wye Valley to support other organisations.

Gerry runs two pub quizzes each week at Forest Holidays in the Forest of Dean where guests can donate to their chosen charity.

The company who raised money for the school, has an array of cabins people can stay in surrounded by nature.
