RESIDENTS across the Forest of Dean are being invited to come together for a community lunch later this month, with a new event offering affordable food and an opportunity to meet others.

The first Forest Community Feast will take place at the Wilderness Centre in Mitcheldean on Friday, October 23, with lunch served from 12.30pm.

Organisers hope the gathering will bring people from different backgrounds together around the table, encouraging conversation, friendship and a stronger sense of community.

A two-course lunch will be prepared by Little Feast Food, using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients wherever possible.

The event will operate on a 'pay as you can' basis, allowing visitors to contribute whatever they can afford without facing questions or judgement.

There will be no requirement to book in advance, with residents encouraged to simply turn up and enjoy the afternoon.

A vegetarian option will also be available, although organisers have asked anyone wishing to make a contribution to bring cash.

The initiative will also help tackle food waste and support people experiencing difficulties accessing nutritious meals.

Any surplus food remaining after the event will be frozen and distributed to residents across the Forest of Dean who could benefit from additional food support.

Forest of Dean District Council has promoted the gathering, highlighting its emphasis on bringing communities together through good food and shared experiences.

The event is open to everyone, regardless of their circumstances, with organisers hoping to create a welcoming environment where people can enjoy a meal without financial pressure.

Residents seeking further information about the Forest Community Feast can contact Lizzie Dyer at the Forest Food Network on 07875 331434.

Alternatively, enquiries can be sent by email to [email protected] ahead of the event.

Organisers hope the first gathering will encourage residents to make new connections while enjoying freshly prepared food together.
