FIVE men have been jailed for their involvement in a targeted aggravated burglary following a complex investigation by Gloucestershire Constabulary.

During the early hours of September 24, a burglary took place in Redmarley where a man in his 50s sustained serious stab wounds. During the course of the burglary a Mercedes car along with keys, a mobile phone and a quantity of cash were stolen.

Police identified that the men involved in the burglary and wounding had travelled up to the Forest of Dean from the Bristol and Weston-super-Mare areas.

Investigating officers believe that Ryan Bartley, 35, and of Yarrow Court in Weston-Super-Mare facilitated and organised the attack.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal and was jailed at Gloucester Crown Court today along with four other men.

The violent assault was captured on CCTV and shows how Dillon Kow, Jade Cunningham, Taschan Peart and Dean Purnell were also involved.

Forensic enquiries helped lead to Cunningham being identified after his glasses were knocked off his face during the attack.

The men, who are all connected to organised criminality, were quickly identified and arrested by Gloucestershire officers. They were subsequently charged and remanded.

Jade Cunningham, 27 and of no fixed abode was sentenced to 11 years and three months after pleading guilty to conspiracy to steal and section 18 wounding.

Dillon Kow, 26 from Bristol was sentenced to nine years and seven months after pleading guilty to robbery and conspiracy to steal.

Taschan Peart, 22 and of Malvern Road in Tottenham, London was sentenced to nine years and seven months after pleading guilty to robbery and conspiracy to steal.

Dean Purnell, 32 from Bristol was sentenced to three years and two months after pleading guilty to conspiracy to steal.

Ryan Bartley was sentenced to two years and eight months after pleading guilty to conspiracy to steal.

All of the men will have to serve half of their sentences before being released on licence

Senior investigation officer, DI Paula Hannaford said: "This was not a random burglary it was a calculated attack which we believe was facilitated and organised by Ryan Bartley himself.

"All of the defendants that have been sentenced were aware that violence was being used and had been used against the homeowners during this burglary but sought to leave the scene and the victim incapacitated and bleeding from his injuries.

"This level of violence will not be tolerated in Gloucestershire and we will not be deterred by criminals coming into our county from other areas thinking we are an easy option. We will as the case was with this one, continue to leave no stone unturned if you come here committing crime."
