Tytherington Rocks 3
Lydney Town 0
WITHOUT influential midfielder James Morse, Lydney surrendered their unbeaten league record at Tytherington.
Morse was injured in the 2-1 midweek cup defeat to Trowbridge.
Lydney drafted in Jarred Liddington, with Sam Elliott also recalled to the defence.
Town missed a glorious chance to go ahead when Liddington shot wide.
Rocks made them pay by taking the lead through Rob Sage.
Disaster struck in the first couple of minutes of the second-half when the dangerous Jimmy Potts found space in the Lydney box. His left-footed shot gave keeper Mike Reddan no chance.
Lydney upped their game and started to put the home team under pressure.
Matt Timmins clipped the bar with a header from a Danny Clarke corner, while Clarke also hit the bar with another in-swinging corner.
With Lydney pushing men forward they were always susceptible on the break. In the dying minutes of the game Jimmy Potts broke through, only to be brought down by Glen Stallard. Potts got up to slot the penalty himself.
Rocks were worthy winners in the end, although if Lydney had taken their chances early on it could have been a different game.
It's a big week for Lydney, who visit Headington for a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.
