PILLOWELL ROAD in Whitecroft has been closed off due to a leak on a large water pipe that goes through the village.

The unannounced closure has put many local businesses in jeopardy as works aren't due to be finished until the end of the month.

Alex Weiss, owner of Al's Plaice fish and chips shop, said: "I found out the day before that they are going to close the road off for a month.

"We've had no letter, no notice, nothing. If we're closed off for a month we won't be able to pay our workers, most of our customers come from Yorkley, Pillowell and Lydney. None of them can get to me now.
