Lydney v Bredon

THIS was another confident display by Lydney with both bat and ball.

Ed Jones won the toss and elected to field, but his bowlers could not take early wickets.

The breakthrough eventually came when Hall was run out for 26 with the score on 51.

Next ball, Will Jones had Wilkins caught by Kear for nought.

Morris removed Draper for 33, but Bredon steadied themselves through Jon Gregory (34) and Martin Hill (17).

Left-armer Will Jones sparked Bredon's collapse with a spell of 4-38 that saw the visitors slide from 102-3 to 158-9 at the close.

Jon Kear and Will Jones opened the batting for Lydney and showed great maturity to keep their wickets intact with a patient stand of 110.

Jones scored 51 from 99 balls and Kear 60 from 118 balls to break the hearts of the Bredon bowlers.

The innings wobbled following their dismissals, but Jack O'Connell's 18 not out from 22 balls enabled Lydney to surpass Bredon's total with just three balls to spare and make it five league wins in a row.
