JAMIE Parker, seven, has suffered from cerebral palsy since birth and needs a wheelchair to help him get around.

Now his family is raising money for an operation that they hope might allow him to walk unaided.

Parents Andy and Louise are determined to raise the £30,000 needed to pay for the life-changing operation.

"Jamie is currently in a wheelchair so it's a lot of hassle to do many things," said Andy, from Lydney.

"He can't walk very easily and so that can be quite awkward a lot of the time.

"Some of his nerves are sending the wrong messages and the operation ought to correct that, so when he goes to walk he should be fine.

"If he can have the operation it will save future complications."

After six months of fundraising the family has managed to raise £8,000.
