EXTRA medics have been drafted in amidst complaints that the new 111 service was not working here in the Forest.

Health watchdogs have been told that problems arose because there were six call handlers to one clinician.

Albert Weager, who sits on Gloucestershire's Clinical Commissioning Group, told the Forest Health Forum that 'ineffective triaging' led to out of hours GPs being left without patients.

While the Dilke Memorial Hospital was inundated with patients normally referred to GPs, ambulances were sent to deal with people with minor ailments such as constipation.

Mr Weager said Gloucestershire's Clinical Commissioning Group would discuss a review of the service at a meeting on May 16.

"There is a review of Harmoni's performance because it hasn't delivered what it promised and we want things to improve," he said.
