THE ex-wife of French serial killer Michel Fourniret has been formally charged in connection with the death of Joanna Parrish from Newnham more than 30 years ago, it has been reported.
News organisations in Britain and France, including the BBC, have reported that his ex-wife, Monique Olivier, has been formally charged for being complicit in the kidnap, rape and killing of Ms Parrish.
Ms Parrish was on a gap year, working as a teaching assistant in Auxerre in the Burgundy region of France when she was murdered by Fourninet in May 1990.
Fourninet eventually confessed to the murder in 2018 but died three years later before he stood trial for the crime.
Olivier is already in jail for her part in four murders and a rape carried out by Fourninet.
She has also been charged with complicity in the kidnap and death of another young woman and the kidnap of a nine-year-old girl.
