AN 80-YEAR-OLD former miner says he can solve Upper Lydbrook's flooding problems.
During a presentation given to local residents this week, flooding specialist Mike Vaughan revealed that the culvert was no longer fit for purpose and suggested that the best solution was to form an attenuation pond to hold and restrict the flow of water down the valley.
However Eric Morris, president of the Freeminers' Association, put forward an alternative vision and suggested linking the brook with an old mine shaft.
