Llandovery 26

THIS game was littered with poor decision-making and handling errors by Cinderford, providing food for thought for the start of the league season.

After 12 minutes Llandovery turned the ball over on the halfway line and Matthew Jacobs ran in unopposed to score in the corner. Tomas Marks converted.

When Cinderford gave away a penalty just outside their own 5m line, Llandovery elected to take a scrum. A smart back-row move put Luke Kendall under the posts, leaving Marks an easy conversion.

Cinderford rang the changes, taking off Teague, Markham, Allen and Smart, and replacing them with Wilcox, McKee, West and Price. They seemed to have more structure in the second half.

Trigg kicked a penalty, then Lloyd Stapleton raced through to score after the ball was moved at pace across the back line. A great flat pass from Wilcox allowed Foden to break the Llandovery defence and although he was tackled, the ball was recycled to create the scoring chance for Stapleton.

On 62 minutes Cinderford won a penalty on the Llandovery 22, but instead of taking the points they went for a quick tap.

They lost the ball and several missed tackles later, Jack Roberts went under the posts for Llandovery's third try.

Cinderford prop Chris Bundy touched down in the corner after a good move involving Trigg, Foden and Stapleton, but the hosts had the final say.

More Cinderford mistakes let in Mike Evans for a try with the final play of the game.
