IS it the end for the District Council?
I hope not, for the employees of the Forest of Dean.
It was not with surprise that getting rid of the District Council would soon be put on the agenda. This has been spoken about for a long time.
It seems to be mostly the Labour Party in favour of this. I would have thought that councillor Morgan, being a union man, would be pushing for jobs, not getting rid. Is this the Labour way after all?
The Forest of Dean is losing enough jobs already without this talk of losing more. Not only will the jobs of the employees lose out, businesses will also, because many of the employees shop locally.
I think this is a disgusting attitude towards the workers at the council and business.
Perhaps if this building was in Cinderford coun Morgan would fight for it to stay in the Dean. I have said many times over, we need more business people on the local councils, encouraging more business into the Dean. Using the money from the business tax etc is desperately needed to level out the paying in and paying out.
Also overlooked, the travel expense, if some employees keep their jobs but have to travel to Gloucester. Then there is the district councillor, unless they are to be got rid of too. Who pays for the travel allowance, the taxpayer?
Remember, some do claim and quite a lot.
Then there is the environment, which many councillors seem to forget about or don't understand how this works.
I, for one, will not be backing this disgusting idea. We are losing enough jobs already. Shame on you coun Morgan for even thinking this way, or is it 'I'm all right Jack'. Never mind about the rest of you.
There are two local elections coming up on September 26. Please look very seriously who to vote for. We do need councillors who look at every aspect of a variety of jobs, not just supermarkets. Keep as many jobs as we can in all of the Forest of Dean.
