THE winter Olympian, Eddie ’The Eagle’ Edwards formally opened St White’s Primary School today, September 15.

After unveiling a plaque, he joined with the school’s council to cut the ribbon of the new £6,000,000 building.

Gloucestershire County Council funded the replacement of the Victorian Cinderford school, which had been located on two sites.

Pupils have been using the new purpose built site since March with the official opening following a tree planting and time capsule burying ceremony that took place last December.

Teresa Cross, headteacher at St Whites said: “It is such a pleasure to have someone like Eddie here with us to officially open our new school building.

“We’ve all been really looking forward to this day. It has given everyone who has been involved with this incredible venture, a chance to celebrate and marvel at the sheer joy this stunning building.
