A DRUNKEN off-duty policeman who assaulted two workers during a row over salad in a Cinderford kebab shop has avoided prison.
Swindon Crown Court heard PC Andrew Evans, 32, flew into a rage inside the takeaway because staff had not put any salad on his late night snack.
At the time of the incident on July 24 last year, the Gloucestershire Police officer was suspended from duty following a domestic-related incident. At an earlier hearing Evans, of St Swithin's Road, Oldcroft, admitted charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and battery.
Judge Douglas Field imposed a two-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and placed Evans on a 10-week 8pm to 6am curfew.
