A COLEFORD man jailed for three years eight months for dealing in cocaine must forfeit his illgotten gain of £10,000 within six months, a judge has ruled.

At Gloucester Crown Court lawyers for David Faulkner, 41, agreed that he had benefited from crime by £10,000 and that he has sufficient assets to hand over the full amount under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Christopher Jervis, for Faulkner, accepted that he has assets of two cars and equity in his home at Holcut Road, Coalway, which together amount to £40,908.60.

Recorder Stephen Hall made an order that Faulkner must forfeit the £10,000 within six months - or serve an extra six months jail in default of payment.

Faulkner, who has a disabled son, had admitted possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply on September 2 last year.

The court heard that when police went to Faulkner's home and arrested him he showed them two plastic pots containing a total of 141 grams of cocaine with a retail value of £5,647.

He also had more than £3,000 in cash in his bedroom.

He was sentenced earlier this year to three years and eight months' imprisonment.
