MAGISTRATES told a Coleford woman she was “obviously unfit and should not have driven” when she was found to be more than three and a half times over the legal limit of alcohol on her breath to be behind the wheel.
Shona Galleitch of Coombs Road, Coleford, was banned from the roads for 20 months and ordered to pay almost £1,000 in fines, costs and surcharges.
Galleitch pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court to driving a Volkswagen Golf on Lydney High Street on August 13 with 123 micrograms of alcohol in her breath.
The legal limit for driving is 35micrograms.
She was told that she can reduce her 20 months driving disqualification by 20 weeks if she completes a government-approved driving course satisfactorily by October 7 next year.
The magistrates fined 39-year-old Galleitch £600 plus a £240 victim services surcharge and costs of £85.
The court stated that it was a “serious offence and defendant was very obviously unfit and should not have driven”.
