A 47-year-old man has been banned from driving for six months after he failed to stop after being involved in a collision on the A48 at Elton Road, Newnham.

Dean Kirby, of Rodley, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court to driving a BMW 330 E without due care and attention on April 14 last year and failing to stop and give his name and address after a collision with another vehicle in which damage was done.

He admitted that the offences were committed in breach of two existing suspended prison terms imposed on him in January and March last year for unrelated offences.

He was banned for six months and placed on an 18-month community order with rehabilitation activity requirements for up to 25 days. He was also ordered to pay a total of £1,114 in fines, costs and surcharges.
