Dogs which have attacked a flock of sheep in Huntley may have wrecked part of a government experiment into improving ovine genetics.
The flock, owned by farmer Philip Whitehouse, were on land at Huntly where they were attacked by dogs last week.
Two Lleyn ewes and a Charollais ram were injured in the attack and one of he ewes, valued at £150, had to be destroyed.
Mr Whitehouse said: “This flock of 40 sheep and one ram were part of a government experiment caller Ram Compare in which nine different breeds of Ram are used to compare their progeny.
“At the moment the sheep are mating so we are worried about the effect this could have on the data collected."
