ARE you an avid Dennis Potter fan or merely someone who would like to find out what all the fuss is about?

In either case, you may be interested in the latest production by the Off Centre Theatre group who are performing at Monmouth’s Savoy Theatre - the classic Blue Remembered Hills.

Set in war-torn Britain, the play centres around a group of children playing in the hills and fields of the Forest of Dean.

Their carefree antics and horseplay at first conceal the underlying insecurities and vindictiveness that pervades the relationships.

This ultimately leads to a sad and sinister outcome, an outcome that destroys their innocence forever.

Potter’s famous work was originally penned for television and was first broadcast in 1979.

One of the famous features of the play, at the insistence of the writer, is that adults play all the roles of the children.

The cast includes Jim Newcombe as Willie, Keith Davis as Peter, Renske Bouwens as Raymond, Les Davis as John, Angela is played by Angela Teague, Debbie Fowler is Audrey and Phil Davis plays Donald.

As part of the Off Centre Theatre’s Production, the first half of the evening will feature Forest writer, Keith Morgan, who will present extracts from his poems, tales and anecdotes, skilfully capturing the wit and passion of the Foresters.

Geoff Manning is directing this production, and it will be staged over three nights at the Savoy Theatre, from Thursday, June 8, until Saturday, June 10 commencing each night at 7.30pm.

Tickets are now on sale from the Savoy, priced £10 on 01600 772467.
