RODLEY residents are seeing red after Royal Mail refused to repair their letterbox.
It is thought a lorry reversed into the letterbox located at Cleeve Farm, breaking the front of it, in October of last year.
Mary Brewer said she was told by Royal Mail that since the box had been "vandalised" that it would not be repaired and the twice-daily collections would cease.
"We have started a petition to have the box repaired because it was very convenient for people who live here," said Mary.
"It was within walking distance and it meant people didn't have to go to Westbury which is very busy with traffic. I think Royal Mail are just hoping we'll be quiet so they can close it."
Royal Mail spokesman Tom Prendergast said the box was too badly damaged to be repaired.
"Within two-thirds of a mile and a one-and-a-half mile radius there are three other boxes – at Rodley, Rodley Court and Wintles – which can be used instead," he said.
