INJURY-HIT Lydney conceded seven tries inside half-an-hour on a disappointing day in Hertford.

Lydney were without Chris Holder, Tai Lakabuka, Stewart Doust, Dave Bennett and Tim Longton, but Matt Taylor made a return, albeit off the bench.

Forwards coach Don Parsons said: "After 15 minutes I felt like calling the players off the pitch, getting them on the bus and going home.

"We conceded four tries during that spell with the same player (winger Mike Allen) scoring them all. He didn't even go around anyone to score them.

"We regrouped at half-time and were a lot better in the second half, but it was too late."

Lydney went into the break trailing 38-9 after an abject first half display that also saw Alessandro Leo and Ryan O'Neil cross for Hertford tries.

Tony Wicks kicked three penalties for Lydney.

The visitors won the second half with tries from Nick Selway and Jim McMahon, plus two conversions from Wicks, but Parsons says the damage was done in that opening period.
