D DAY is looming for Asda bosses who want to build a superstore in Cinderford by next Easter.
A High Court judge will decide next week if they can go ahead with their plans.
The Co-op has challenged a decision by one High Court judge who said their claims were groundless. A short hearing will be held on Wednesday April 10.
But both Trilogy and Asda have agreed to forge ahead and contractors are expected to move in to prepare the ground within weeks.
"It all depends on how the judge sees things on the day but we are hoping to find out the decision relatively quickly," said Trilogy's Patrick Stones.
"It could be on the day or within the week but if the judge decides there is justification for a full hearing it could take another six months.
"Whatever happens we will be pressing forward and expect to be on site by the end of the month.
"There's a lot to be done before we can start building and that is what we will be doing over the next couple of months."
Contractors have to move wildlife and take down greenhouses before they can start work.
Two Facebook Groups have been set up supporting and opposing Asda coming to the town,
Amanda Watkins of 'We Want Asda in Cinderford' said: "We have handed in hundreds of letters supporting Asda and are hoping to be able to celebrate some positive news quite soon.
"We will not stop fighting as long Trilogy and Asda never give up."
Forest of Dean District Council's solicitor Marie Rosenthal said: "We can confirm a Judicial Review of the council's decision to award planning permission for a supermarket in Cinderford will be held on April 10 at the High Court in London. As soon as the result is known we will publicise it through the local media, our website and social media."
